Vancouver Fishing - Seasonal Saltwater Report

Below you will find a seasonal update on what you can expect over the next few months as well as this Summer & Fall. If you have spent any time reading through this site you will know that the Fraser River is the lifeline to fishing around Vancouver and South Western British Columbia. With millions of salmon returning each year, many of our fisheries revolve around these same fish even though we are fishing the saltwater regions off Vancouver. All of these salmon will either feed on their way home or school up in great numbers while waiting their turn to enter the Fraser. We target all of these salmon both feeders and schoolers.

The most often question I get asked is: "When is the best time to fish?" Well, that depends on what species of salmon you want to fish for.

We fish for all 5 species of Pacific Salmon, Chinook, Coho, Chum, Sockeye & Pink Salmon. Chinook Salmon are the largest of these 5 species and are available year round in the Vancouver area. We start fishing for Chinook Feb 1 for what we call Feeder Springs, these fish are smaller than summer fish but still offer great sport.

Sockeye arrive early summer and are available strait through until Late August, Pink Salmon arrive 3rd week in August and offer incredible action well through the late summer into Fall. Once we reach the Fall Season we are again targeting the largest run of Chinook Salmon heading to the Harrison River, these fish can reach as much as 50lbs and offer great sport in both saltwater and freshwater.

Our guiding service is positioned in two key locations, Vancouver Delta Airport Hotel near the mouth of the Fraser River and minutes from Downtown Vancouver & 50 miles up river in the town of Mission which is know as Sturgeon Capital of the World. Our River Jet boats & Ocean Boats are moored in the water ready to go when you are. We fish 365 days a year and fishing is a full time business for us.
